Two Dillard High School students were arrested on battery charges after an altercation with a teacher on campus, a situation that raised questions about safety and student behavior in educational institutions. According to a Local 10 News report, 19-year-olds Jayvis McClover and Roddrick McQueen confronted the teacher on Thursday afternoon and began the attack after threatening the educator.
The incident unfolded at approximately 2 p.m., and it is alleged the students punched the teacher to the ground and continued the assault while he attempted to shield himself, school security intervened but not before the teacher sustained facial swelling and back injuries the police said they struck the teacher, knocking him to the ground, they said that school security broke up the attack, but the victim was left with significant injuries, requiring medical attention. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has not disclosed any potential motives behind the attack; however, jail records note that both suspects are now facing charges of battery on an educational employee.
