A juvenile has been taken into custody in Riviera Beach, suspected in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Elias Morrero. The shooting incident, which occurred last Thursday, led to Morrero’s death from a gunshot wound to the neck after he was found sitting in his car near 28th Avenue and Avenue S. According to CBS 12, a passerby witnessed Morrero exiting his vehicle while clutching his neck and called 911.
Following the shooting, police efforts escalated quickly, with the Strategic Investigations Division of the Riviera Beach Police Department spearheading the investigation, leading to the arrest of the juvenile suspect on Friday. The charges against the young suspect include one count of second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a minor, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, as detailed by WPBF. After the arrest, he was turned over to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
