Delray Beach legal assistant accused of embezzling $390K to fund ‘spending problem’

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — With access to accounts and a signature stamp, a legal assistant is accused of quietly embezzling over $390,000 from a Delray Beach law firm.

On May 6, officers with the Delray Beach Police Department (DBPD) say they responded to Forman Law Offices on the 200 block of NE 1st Avenue for reports of a legal assistant, Renee Carmint, stealing money from the business.

The owner confronted Carmint about the alleged theft, to which she confessed, stating that she had stolen around $25,000 — although business accounts reveal it was much, much, more…
