Opinion: Palm Beach relies on immigrant labor

The many world-class establishments that grace Palm Beach — from opulent hotels to fine theatres — have one thing in common: They were built by and are sustained by migrant labor.

According to the Historical Society of Palm Beach County, “In the 1890s, many people came to work on Henry Flagler’s railroad and hotels. When he established West Palm Beach, it attracted more people looking for good jobs and better housing. Among those following Flagler were European immigrants and Blacks. (…) Hispanics have been making their homes here for at least a hundred years(…).”…
