Palm Beach Police: Woman lied to take blame for crash in which son, 14, was driving

A Palm Beach woman faces a misdemeanor charge after police said she told officers that she was behind the wheel of a car involved in a crash — when it was actually her 14-year-old son in the driver’s seat.

The 49-year-old woman was arrested Aug. 9 on a charge of making a false report to law enforcement and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, according to jail records. She was released the same day on a $1,000 bond, jail records show.

A neighbor’s surveillance footage of the crash helped officers to verify what they were told by the driver of the other vehicle in the crash: That the teen was the only person in the vehicle when it pulled out in front of his pickup, according to an arrest report…
