Bahamian National Arrested For Boatload Of Codeine Cough Syrup, Cocaine In Florida

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in Florida on Tuesday revealed the recent interception of a Bahamian boater allegedly smuggling a load of cocaine and codeine cough syrup into the state.

The sheriff’s office said its Marine Enforcement Unit deputies on Aug. 31 spotted a vessel traveling westbound toward the Boynton Inlet, but when deputies approached, the vessel “made a sudden evasive turn northbound, appearing to avoid contact with law enforcement and avoid entering the inlet.”

That “suspicious behavior” led deputies to stop the vessel and escort it to the Lantana Boat Ramp for investigation.
