WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A man accused of slashing a cashier during a violent robbery attempt at a West Palm Beach clothing store is now behind bars without bond, and court records say he’s an undocumented migrant.
According to a police report from the West Palm Beach Police Department (WPBPD), 41-year-old Alex Paz Fuentes was arrested on September 10 and booked for attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery after allegedly attacking a worker at Guatemala Bazar on Belvedere Road.
According to the arrest affidavit, Fuentes entered the store wearing a yellow reflective shirt, dark pants, and a bandana over his face. He picked up clothing items and approached the register, where he allegedly pulled out a black-handled kitchen knife and slashed the cashier on the hand. Surveillance footage showed Fuentes chasing the employee and attempting to open the register while shouting, “This is a robbery,” in Spanish…
