Man who survived North Miami Beach police shooting appears in court accused of trying to kill officer

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 21-year-old man who survived a North Miami Beach police shooting wore an anti-suicide smock to Miami-Dade County bond court on Saturday morning after correctional deputies booked him on Friday night.

During a bond court hearing, Roosevelt Joseph was in handcuffs and holding a clear plastic bag as he stood before Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer, who said he was accused of trying to kill a police officer on Sept. 6.

“He said he had stabbed a woman, so the officer arrived there, and then he charged at the officer with a knife, and the officer shot him. Obviously, he went to the hospital, and he is doing better because he is here today,” Glazer said while reading a police report in court…
