Woman Injured in Tamarac Shooting, Suspect Barricaded as Deputies Investigate

Tension gripped a Tamarac neighborhood yesterday evening, following a shooting incident that left one woman injured. The Broward Sheriff’s Office reported that first responders quickly transported the victim to Broward Health North for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries after the shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. near the 8200 block of 74th Terrace, as noted by WSVN.

As the investigation unfolded, deputies surrounded a house from which a man, presumably the shooter, had reportedly barricaded himself inside. The large police presence remained on the scene for hours, as deputies tried to encourage the individual to come out using a drone, sirens, and a loudspeaker, to no avail as of last night. According to Local 10 News, authorities remain unsure if the house under investigation was occupied, despite their continuous efforts.

The owner of the home at the center of the investigation, Ana Menjivar, expressed shock and concern during an interview to NBC Miami. “I just told my husband, oh my God, what have we done? We should have investigated more and see who this guy is,” said Menjivar, who rents out part of her home to an individual she admitted to knowing very little about.
