Traffic Dispute Turns Violent with Gunshot in Lauderdale Lakes Shopping Plaza

A seemingly minor traffic mishap escalated into a violent confrontation this past Saturday in Lauderdale Lakes, as a fender bender led to a driver being shot in the chest. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Lion Plaza shopping complex, according to Local 10 News. The confrontation started when a silver sedan backed into a gray SUV. The drivers exited their vehicles to assess the damage but tensions quickly escalated.

Surveillance footage from the scene showed the SUV driver returning to his vehicle, retrieving a gun, and firing at the sedan driver, who was subsequently taken to a hospital as a trauma alert with a gunshot wound to the chest. The SUV driver was seen calmly walking away after the shooting, while the victim sought refuge in a nearby store. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies later surrounded a home, believing the shooter was inside, although no arrests were made as the home turned out to be empty, reported by CBS News Miami.

Alicia Parrish, who was getting her nails done nearby when the shooting took place, expressed her shock to Local 10 News, “I’ve been coming here for over 20 years and this is the first time this ever happened.” Parrish had her grandchildren in the car, just feet from the gunfire, and communicated with them via phone to keep them low during the ordeal…
