Playground Pursuit: WPB man on the run takes shortcut through preschool

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A traffic stop turned chaotic when a West Palm Beach man ditched his unregistered van, dashed across Military Trail, and tore through a preschool playground.

At 6:15 p.m. on Thursday deputies with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) say they were patrolling the area of Neptune Road and Mars Avenue when they spotted the suspect, 30-year-old Miguel Valez Dejesus, driving a van with a plate that was not registered to the vehicle, and the van wasn’t registered.

When the deputy activated his lights at a Marathon gas station on the corner of South Military Trail and Summit Boulevard, DeJesus allegedly tried to drive away, but was blocked by heavy rush hour traffic…
