County commissioners have called on the school board to send a school bus into a proposed residential development west of Boca Raton so that students can be transported safely to school.
The 89-unit apartment complex that will include workforce housing was nearly blocked because of concerns that school children would be forced to leave the complex and board a school bus on a heavily congested highway. The site will have direct access on 210 Street South, which connects to Boca Rio Road.
This issue sparked considerable debate at an Oct. 21 commission meeting, with the developer’s agent, Josh Nichols, saying he has been unsuccessful in his efforts to have the school district change its policy.
