Motorcyclist and Juvenile Passenger Killed in Collision with SUV in Deerfield Beach

A tragic incident on South Powerline Road in Deerfield Beach earlier this month has claimed the lives of a 21-year-old motorcyclist and his juvenile passenger. The Broward Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash occurred on the evening of Oct. 18 when Simon Dias Do Santos collided with a vehicle making a U-turn, according to NBC Miami.

Driving a 2002 Honda motorcycle, Santos was reportedly speeding with the girl as his passenger when the crash took place as they struck the Nissan Rogue driven by 65-year-old Douglass Hall. Hall, a Nebraska man, attempted the U-turn, which, according to some witnesses, was initiated at a safe distance from the following traffic, as stated by TAPinto. Both passengers of the Rogue suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the collision.

Emergency responders rushed Santos and the juvenile, whose identity has not been released, to area hospitals. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Santos succumbed to his injuries shortly after the accident, and the young girl passed away last Saturday. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation by the BSO, with speed being a considered factor, though Santos was not found to be impaired at the time…
