As the nation teeters on the edge of a potential food crisis, Palm Beach County restaurant owner Rodney Mayo is stepping up once again. If federal SNAP benefits lapse on Nov. 1, leaving millions of Americans, including children, without food assistance, Mayo’s Subculture Group will begin offering free meals to those affected starting Monday, Nov. 3.
His participating restaurants include Howley’s, Dada, Hullabaloo, Shanghai’d, Tryst and all Subculture Coffee locations. Each will provide one free meal daily to anyone who can show proof of SNAP enrollment.
SNAP, formerly known as food stamps, is the nation’s largest anti-hunger program. In fiscal year 2024, it served an average of 41.7 million people per month, about 12.3% of the U.S. population.
