Bicyclist, 61, dies from injuries in Lake Worth Beach crash on Halloween

A 61-year-old man died on Nov. 3, days after he was critically injured when he collided with a vehicle while riding his bicycle in Lake Worth Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Investigators say Louis Simon fell and hit his head on the pavement after colliding with a Toyota SUV shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Lucerne Avenue and North H Street. He was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center and died shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 3.

According to a sheriff’s office report, Simon was traveling west on Lucerne in the bicycle lane when the SUV accelerated from a stop sign and crossed into Simon’s path. The bicycle struck the SUV’s passenger side and Simon was ejected, hitting his head on the pavement…
