Loiterer arrested with syringes found under dumpster at 7-Eleven

A Hollywood man was arrested on drug charges after officers found syringes and methamphetamine on him at a local 7-Eleven.

An employee of 7-Eleven, located at 2058 U.S. Hwy. 27/441, asked an officer to investigate the dumpster at the gas station around 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. A customer had informed her of an unauthorized person, later identified as 35-year-old William Clayton Bass, in the area.

The employee stated nobody should have been back there, and she was concerned because they had to take the trash out soon. Hearing this, the officer approached the dumpster and saw some movement from the gap behind the closed gate. He announced himself and told the person to exit the gate, the report said.

This person, Bass, ducked behind the corner of the dumpster instead. The officer called again for him to come out, and he finally emerged from behind the gate. At that point, the officer recognized a syringe and needle sticking out of his left pocket, the report said…
