WEST PALM BEACH — The deal to convert a 114-room La Quinta Inn into housing for low-income seniors on the verge of homelessness is dead.
Palm Beach County commissioners voted 6-1 to terminate the purchase contract after inspectors found numerous deficiencies on the property near Century Village in suburban West Palm Beach that the hotel owner failed to correct.
They found floors and ceilings saturated with water, plumbing leaks and mildew in some of the rooms. There was also a “heightened presence of widespread moisture” in rooms as well…
