Teachers plan rally for competitive pay in Palm Beach County

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Teachers in Palm Beach County will gather this afternoon to rally for higher pay, saying the district’s latest salary offer falls far short of what’s needed to keep pace with rising costs.

The Classroom Teachers Association is calling for a 5% raise to match the county’s cost of living. The district has proposed a 1.5% increase along with bonus money, a deal union leaders say would leave educators even further behind inflation.

“The district needs to prioritize paying the professionals who meet students every day the same as any other operating cost,” CTA President Gordan Longhofer said in a statement…
