The AP uncovered a surveillance program operating in several interior states, using hidden cameras and license-plate readers to identify “suspicious travel patterns.” In some cases, the investigation found, Border Patrol alerted local police to stop drivers based solely on algorithmic analysis, not because they broke a law.
