A man who worked for a now-defunct tax preparation service used his access to client data to divert money to his personal bank account, police said Tuesday, following the arrest of Marius St. Gerard, 38, of Clearwater.
According to a statement issued by police, St. Gerard was found to have accessed dozens of client files while in a managerial position at CLR Admin Services, changed their email addresses to his own and altered records of their bank account information to reflect his own account information. He then cancelled files and electronically signed forms that were sent to his email to initiate a refund, and the money was routed to his own account, the statement said…
