PBSO contract in limbo, Loxahatchee Groves homeowners worry about their safety

LOXAHATCHEE GROVES, Fla. (CBS12) — A funding shortfall in Loxahatchee Groves is raising concerns about whether there will be enough deputies to keep the community safe.

The town is behind on payments to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) for law enforcement services, and now the future of that contract is uncertain.

Loxahatchee Groves currently pays about $680,000 a year for deputies to patrol the area. Town officials said they don’t have the money to pay the sheriff’s office and for months, they’ve tried to renegotiate the contract for a lower price…
