Established in Miami in 2010, Pubbelly Sushi’s recent Boca Raton opening joins its sister locations in Aventura, Brickell City Centre, Dadeland, Miami Beach, Pembroke Pines and, also newly opened, West Palm Beach.
Chef and founder José Mendín created Pubbelly Sushi as “a place where chefs could eat high-quality, affordable dishes in a cool atmosphere.” A fusion of Japanese and Latin-inspired cuisine, the restaurant quickly became a local favorite.
Along with chef de cuisine, Sergio Navarro, and Andreas Schreiner, the trio won StarChefs Rising Star Restaurateur Award in 2016, then in 2020, the restaurant won the Miami New Times Readers’ Choice Award for “Best Sushi.” Mendín is also a five-time James Beard Award semifinalist for “Best Chef, Southeast.”
