FLORIDA — A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed inside a Boynton Beach home after stepping in to stop an argument between his sister and her ex-boyfriend, according to police. The incident happened Sunday morning and has left the family and community devastated.
Teen Intervened During Heated Domestic Dispute
Investigators identified the victim as Josiah Jones, who police say attempted to calm a dispute between his sister and 24-year-old Trenton Robinson. Robinson had arrived at the residence to pick up his 2-year-old son when tensions rose between him and the child’s mother.
According to the police report, Jones placed himself between the arguing pair to prevent the situation from escalating. During the confrontation, Robinson discharged a firearm, striking the teen in the abdomen. Boynton Beach Fire Rescue transported Jones to Delray Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Conflicting Accounts About How the Gun Fired
Robinson told 911 dispatchers that the shooting was accidental, claiming Jones had pushed him onto a bed and that the gun went off as he tried to remove an unholstered weapon from his sweatshirt pocket.
