Palm Beach County ramps up enforcement to curb high rate of pedestrian, bicyclist crashes

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — In an effort to improve the roadways for pedestrians and cyclists, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is conducting high-visibility enforcement (HVE).

The sheriff’s office says Palm Beach County ranks fifth in Florida for deadly pedestrian and bicyclist injuries among counties with populations over 300,000. The sheriff’s office found that from January 1 to October 30 2025, pedestrians and bicyclists were involved in:

  • 1,441 collisions
  • 131 serious injury crashes
  • 39 deadly crashes
