Wellington man sentenced after dead snake, neglected dog found in home

WELLINGTON, Fla. (CBS12) — A 21-year-old Wellington man pleaded guilty to one count of abandonment of an animal on Wednesday after following his arrest in 2025. Deputies say a dog and a snake were found severely neglected inside a home, leading to multiple animal cruelty charges.

According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit, deputies arrested Jacquavian Devol, 21, on April 28, 2025, following the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Stonegate Drive.

Deputies reported they were called to the home while assisting animal control officers during a search related to a separate investigation. Inside the residence, authorities said they discovered a deceased snake inside a terrarium and a gray pit bull confined to a crate in the garage. The affidavit states the garage floor and the dog were covered in dried feces, and no food or water was found in the crate or the surrounding area…
