Fort Lauderdale, Florida — An 8-year-old girl is being hailed as a hero after police say she intervened during a violent domestic attack, stepping between her mother and a knife wielded by her stepfather — an act that likely saved her mother’s life.
According to authorities, Daquan Delancy, 30, is facing multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, and aggravated child abuse. He is currently being held at the Broward County Jail without bond, court records show.
Argument Turns Violent Outside Family Home
The incident unfolded Wednesday afternoon at a residence in the 4500 block of Southwest 23rd Terrace in Fort Lauderdale. Investigators say Delancy and his wife were arguing outside their home when the confrontation escalated into physical violence.
