Wellington is getting a new dining destination from one of Florida’s most legendary restaurant families. The Lewis family, proprietors of Okeechobee Steakhouse, the state’s oldest, is preparing to open Lewis Prime Grill Wellington, a new concept they say is designed specifically for the community that has been asking for them for decades.
The restaurant is moving into the former Stonewood Grill space, which closed abruptly in 2025.
When the keys were handed back to the landlord, Lewis stepped in and leased the building with plans to create something entirely new for the village. He said the space hadn’t been updated in more than 20 years.

Now, the space is being rebuilt from the walls in. Lewis calls the look “whimsical,” a word he uses to describe vibrant colors, a unique design and an atmosphere he says will feel unlike anything currently in Wellington…
