South Florida braces for coldest air in more than a decade

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Floridians may want to trade their flip-flops for fuzzy socks this weekend as a blast of arctic air barrels toward South Florida, threatening to deliver the chilliest temperatures the region has seen since 2010.

A powerful arctic air mass is expected to sweep into the Sunshine State late Saturday, dragging temperatures down to near-freezing — or even below — in parts of Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast, according to CBS12 meteorologists. Forecast models show the region could face its most frigid stretch in more than a decade, with cold air lingering through early next week.
