Delray Beach to enforce noise ordinance as city seeks balance between nightlife, neighbors

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Delray Beach will soon begin enforcing its noise ordinance in both downtown areas and neighborhoods, a move city leaders say is aimed at balancing a vibrant nightlife with residents’ quality of life.

City officials talked about the changes during a packed town hall Thursday night. Residents and business owners shared concerns about how the ordinance will be enforced and what it could mean moving forward.

Several people raised issues about loud exhausts and music coming from cars, but police said those complaints are difficult to enforce. Others questioned noise from leaf blowers, which city leaders say may be addressed separately in the future…
