DNA genealogy confirms Boca Raton Jane Doe as Virginia native Patricia “Patsy” Ritchie

BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — A woman finally has a name after being considered a Jane Doe for over 40 years following the discovery of her remains in Boca Raton.

According to a news release from Othram, in January 1978, construction workers discovered the unidentified skeletal remains and quickly contacted law enforcement. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office, quickly responded to the scene and began investigating the case as a homicide.

The sheriff’s office determined that the skeletal remains belonged to an adult woman who was 17 to 29 years old around the time of her death. She was estimated to be about 5’4″ tall…
