Miami, Florida – Drivers along I-95 and the Florida Turnpike could face sudden downpours and wind gusts up to 50 mph by midafternoon Saturday as strong thunderstorms develop across South Florida.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, isolated to scattered storms are expected to intensify between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., primarily around the Lake Okeechobee region and along the east coast metro corridor. A few storms could become strong to marginally severe, capable of producing damaging wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph.
