OSHA cites Florida contractor after employee dies at local worksite

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla (CBS12) — A Florida-based petroleum tank services contractor has been cited following a worker’s death at a Lake Worth Beach worksite in July 2025, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the department said its Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigation found that PCE Petroleum Contractors Enterprises Inc., based in Land O’ Lakes, exposed employees to hazardous chemicals, including benzene and toluene, while they entered a fuel storage tank.

According to the Department of Labor, OSHA issued 12 serious violations. Investigators said the company failed to implement a written permit-required confined space entry program, properly train workers on chemical hazards, and maintain required respiratory protection and hazard communication programs…
