Cops, Fort Lauderdale Man Busted for Backyard Stabbing of Neighbor’s Dog

Fort Lauderdale police arrested a 42-year-old man on March 6 after officers said he walked into a neighbor’s backyard, stabbed the homeowner’s dog twice, and threatened to stab the owner. Officers detained the suspect at the scene and reported that he later admitted to going onto the property and stabbing the animal. Investigators have not released a motive, and the case remains under review.

According to an arrest report cited by Local10, the suspect was identified as Michael Anderson, 42, of Fort Lauderdale. The homeowner told police that Anderson threatened to stab him during the confrontation and stabbed the dog two times. Officers say Anderson admitted to entering the backyard and stabbing the animal before they took him into custody.

Charges and custody

The arrest report states that Anderson faces charges of animal torture causing cruel death, pain or suffering, along with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Local10. As of Tuesday morning he was being held at the Broward County Main Jail on a $30,000 bond, and officials had not yet set a court date.
