20 years later, deputies still seek answers in 2006 golf course killing

LAKE WORTH, Fla. (CBS12) — Twenty years after wrapped coins were found scattered near a Lake Worth golf course, authorities are renewing their push to find the killer of Cynthia Moffett.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said that Moffett was shot and killed on March 23, 2006, while working at the Forest Oaks Golf Club pro shop at 144 Lucerne Lakes Boulevard. Her body was discovered just outside the shop’s south door, where detectives believe she was attacked between 5 and 6 p.m.

Investigators determined the motive was robbery. The suspect—or suspects—took wrapped coins from the pro shop, and several of those coins were later discovered a distance away, suggesting a hurried escape.
