Eyewitness who saw woman pushed from SUV remains key to solving 2007 murder

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — The most chilling clue in the unsolved killing of Randi Gorenberg came from a witness who reported hearing gunshots, then seeing a woman shoved from a black Mercedes-Benz SUV—an image that continues to haunt investigators 19 years later.

On Friday, March 23, 2007, at about 1:12 p.m., Gorenberg left the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton after shopping. Roughly 42 minutes later, at 1:54 p.m., a citizen called 911 to report gunfire in the parking lot of the South County Civic Center in unincorporated Delray Beach. The witness told the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office that a female was pushed from the passenger side of a black 2007 Mercedes-Benz GL450.

Deputies said they soon discovered the victim was Gorenberg, who had been shot and killed. The civic center sits about five miles from the mall…
