Delray Beach adviser arrested on felonies in alleged $30K investment scam targeting senior

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A Delray Beach financial adviser is facing felony charges after investigators say he defrauded an elderly Palm Beach County woman out of $30,000 through a sham investment scheme.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said its deputies arrested Gregg Brian Weiss, 58, on multiple felony charges, including obtaining property through deception from a person 65 or older and engaging in a fraudulent securities transaction, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Investigators say the case began after the victim and her family contacted authorities in February 2025 to report concerns about money they believed had been mishandled.
