10-foot great white shark pinged off Palm Beach

PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A 10-foot great white shark is swimming off Palm Beach, and scientists know exactly where she is.

Marine researchers with the nonprofit group OCEARCH confirmed that a juvenile female great white shark, named Cayo, transmitted a satellite signal early Sunday morning off the Palm Beach coastline.

The signal, known as a Zping, was recorded at 6:49 a.m. on April 13, indicating the shark briefly surfaced long enough for her dorsal fin tag to communicate with a satellite, according to researchers…
