Palm Beach County considers speed cameras in 40 school zones to curb speeding

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Palm Beach County commissioners are set to take the first step Tuesday toward installing speed enforcement cameras in dozens of school zones, aiming to crack down on drivers who exceed posted limits during peak student travel times.

The proposal, up for its first reading at Tuesday’s commission meeting, would allow speed detection cameras to be installed at 40 schools across the district. County leaders say each of those locations has been identified as a heightened safety risk, warranting additional enforcement measures to protect students.
