Free Trees For Delray Beach Homes

A greener yard may be just a delivery away for Delray Beach homeowners. Through a tree planting partnership with the City of Delray Beach, residents can apply to receive up to three free Florida native shade trees or fruit trees delivered directly to their home as part of the Delray Residential Drop Off Program.

The program is designed to expand the city’s tree canopy while allowing residents to select species that work best for their property. Eligible applicants may choose a mix of native trees, delivered in 15-gallon containers, and fruit trees, delivered in 7-gallon containers. Trees arrive at the home ready to plant, with the homeowner responsible for planting, watering and ongoing care.

To qualify, applicants must live within Delray Beach city limits and plant the trees at the address where they reside. Participants must own the property or have written permission from the property owner, agree to plant the trees in the ground rather than in containers, and complete a short follow-up questionnaire after delivery. Front-yard planting is encouraged to help shade sidewalks and streets while enhancing neighborhood appeal.

A variety of Florida-friendly species are available, allowing residents to match the right tree to the right place based on sun exposure, drainage and future growth. Along with select avocado and mango trees, options include medium and large shade trees such as gumbo limbo, wild tamarind, paradise tree and slash pine, along with smaller ornamental choices like silver buttonwood and Simpson’s stopper.
