On lively Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, a new arrival is already making serious noise. Geronimo Tequila Bar and Southwest Grill isn’t just a new dining choice—it’s a full-sensory transport to the American Southwest.
On a recent Wednesday night, the restaurant was buzzing—tables full and the tequila flowing. From the moment you walk in, there’s a cozy, inviting warmth. The space leans into its inspiration: earthy tones, textured walls and lots of artistic details.
The hospitality matches the setting. General Manager Clinton Luepke sets the tone with an easygoing, welcoming presence. Our server, Izzy, was equally impressive—informed, friendly, and effortlessly professional —guiding us through a menu packed full of unique and tempting choices.
Geronimo’s concept is rooted in the cuisine, culture, and history of Santa Fe. The menu utilizes grains, root vegetables and ingredients sourced directly from local purveyors in New Mexico. From the spices to the cooking techniques, each dish tells a story. Don’t be fooled, this is not Tex-Mex; it’s a deeper, more nuanced taste of the Southwest. Ingredients like Hatch green chiles, smoked tomatoes, nopales cactus, and slow-braised meats take center stage.
The brand itself brings pedigree. First established in 2007 in New Haven, Connecticut, Geronimo expanded to Fairfield, Connecticut, in 2013 before making its recent Palm Beach County debut. It’s the brainchild of the Geronimo Hospitality Co., a restaurant and hospitality group offering award-winning food and beverage at its restaurants in Connecticut, Florida and Massachusetts. Each location offers indoor and outdoor dining, with a cozy, versatile approach that includes takeout, events and catering. The Delray Beach venue is open seven days a week, 11:30 a.m – 2:00 a.m. to keep up with the area’s vibrant and exciting dining scene.
And things are exciting when there’s tequila involved! Geronimo’s bar program is not just extensive—it’s elite. Featuring the tagline – “Let Us Be Your Tequila Story,” they boast the largest tequila selection on the East Coast. The restaurant earned its CRT Award T Certification in 2016 from Mexico’s Tequila Regulatory Council, making it one of the first establishments in the world to receive this distinction…
