Florida drivers causing traffic backups as they stop to watch Everglades fire, police warn

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Drivers have been causing traffic backups as they stop to look at a large fire burning in the Everglades, Florida officials said over the weekend.

Pembroke Pines police, on Sunday, warned drivers to not stop along U.S. 27 and Pines Boulevard, saying that any cars stopped in the area “will be directed to move.”

“PPPD is requesting that drivers please stay out of the area,” the police department wrote in a social media post.

Video from the police department showed flames burning in the area, with a large amount of smoke billowing into the sky.
