BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) — The Boca Raton Police Services Department is addressing a series of swatting calls officers received last week.
The police department said on Tuesday that several swatting calls were made in the city of Boca Raton, all involving fake reports that prompted a large law enforcement response to locations where no emergency existed.
Police said the calls are a criminal offense and are punishable by prison. Police said the swatting calls are dangerous, disruptive, and result in the misuse of emergency resources.
