Ribbon-cutting marks new affordable housing units for older citizens in Boise

BOISE, Idaho — The halls of a Boise nursing building remained vacant for nearly three years. But the space is suddenly shining with new life – bringing ease of life to older citizens in the City of Trees.

LEAP Housing on Tuesday celebrated the opening of Sycamore Commons, a 53-unit apartment community for residents age 55 and older in Boise’s Collister neighborhood. The project transformed the building on Sycamore Street into studio and one-bedroom apartments.

LEAP Housing officials said that where the building sits, it provides walkable amenities to residents, including:

  • Collister Shopping Center
  • Boise Public Library
  • Treasure Valley Skate
  • Immediate bus line access
  • Laundry mat
