Famed Nathan Smith House in Boise ‘Skates’ down the street to new location

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A nationally registered historic home in Boise is rolling to a new spot on its own property this week, as crews reposition the 126-year-old Nathan Smith House to make room for new housing while keeping the landmark on display.

The home was named after Nathan Smith, a fruit grower living just south of what was then the village of South Boise, he originally bought the house for $3,000.

The Nathan Smith House, at 2315 S. Broadway is a one-and-a-half-story Colonial Revival farmhouse, one of the first designed by John E. Tourtellotte and Hummel built in 1900. The home sat on two and a half acres of land and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983…
