Idaho’s Wassmuth Center celebrates 30 years of human rights education

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Wassmuth Center for Human Rights located in Downtown Boise is celebrating their 30th anniversary at the end of June. Holding an all ages, public event to mark the milestone.

The idea behind the Wassmuth Center came about after a touring Anne Frank exhibit made its way through Boise in 1995. The center’s executive director, Christina Bruce-Bennion says it was attended by thousands from across the state , sparking inspiration in some locals.

“There was something about the way people responded to that exhibit that led to a local group of women deciding that Idaho could be and was more than the negative things that were happening,” Bruce-Bennion said in an interview Friday morning.
