Idaho National Guard, volunteers haul tons of trash from Birds of Prey area

Despite wet weather in the Boise area Saturday, dozens of volunteers turned out to tackle years of accumulated trash at the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area.

The group included 10 Idaho National Guard members and 35 local community members. Volunteers filled three dumpsters and a trailer full of old tires, hauling out tons of debris from roughly 20,000 acres of Idaho high desert west of the Treasure Valley.

The cleanup was organized through the 208Cleanup Facebook group, founded by Boise-area resident Mike Long to coordinate volunteer cleanups across the state…
