BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Fire activity across the United States continued to climb as crews worked to contain dozens of large blazes and officials urged the public to stay alert for evacuation orders and changing conditions.
National Fire News reported Aug. 2, 2026, that initial attack activity the day before was moderate, with 257 new fires reported. Firefighters were working to suppress and contain 99 large fires nationwide, including 18 new large incidents since the previous day.
