CALDWELL — Before the sun goes down and the lights turn on at the Caldwell Night Rodeo grounds, young cowboys and cowgirls compete in a sport that has been passed down to them for generations.
Dusti Hyder, a 35-year-old mom of four, grew up as a junior competitor in the Caldwell Night Rodeo more than two decades ago. Now, her 7-year-old son, Hesston Hyder, is following in her footsteps, competing for the first time in the same arena his mother once did.
“It’s really cool that he gets to be in the same arena — it’s really special to see that,” Dusti said. “It brings me back to being behind the chutes and being back there with all the other competitors.”…
