As portions of the Mayfield Townsite look to move forward under new ownership, an old issue has resurfaced — water rights.
As BoiseDev reported, developer Third Cadence is looking to build as many as 3,000 homes across 1,400 acres, in a project it calls Settler Springs Village at Mayfield Ranch. The property is part of the greater 5,000-acre development planned for Elmore County between Boise and Mountain Home, called Mayfield Townsite.
According to legal documents filed with the Idaho Department of Water Resources, groundwater in the desert area between Boise and Mountain Home is limited.
