A young girl entered the downtown library’s main lobby on a recent Thursday, repeatedly pressing the “push to open” button at the doors that typically lead customers straight to the books on the first floor. But the doors remained stubbornly shut. The woman with her, pointing out that it was under construction, shooed her away and to the right.
